Background History
The Ministry of Science and Technology to produce technicians and skilled workers that will be needed for the Kyauk Phyu Special Economic Zone (SEZ) that the Government Industrial Institute (Kyauk Phyu) is implementing in the Kyauk Phyu region. It came about due to the cooperation of the provincial government and Kyauk Phyu City. Kyauk Phu City beach road Than Pan River Ward, A.A.A.(4) with a land area of 1.10 acres was used as a GTI school in 2015. On May 11th, we were able to temporarily open and taught with 12 classrooms and 1 computer room.
At the time of opening, Civil, Taught Electrical Power (EP) and Information Technology (IT) majors. At the time of opening, Master U Tin Win (BE-Civil) Deputy Director-General started his duties as the principal of the school and served for two years from May 2015 to May 2017. Then from June 2017 to 2022 Until March, the principal Dr. Phyo Wai Lin (PhD-Manufacturing Engineering, Beijing, China) served as director.
During the time of Masters (2025 to 2020), indoor electrical wiring training to provide employment opportunities to local people for local development issues. Masonry Course carpentry training Iron thread bending course, natural soap candle production; Acquisition Painting Training Course; Computer-based courses are connected with organizations and trainers, A total of (846) trainees were produced. When GTI-KPU first opened, it opened with 107 students and until now, 382 students have been produced. In addition, there are 250 students who have been awarded diplomas, and students who have completed BE. There are 51 students.
From 2020 until today, headmaster Dr. Aung Mon has been in charge of the school’s principal, and Dr. U Kyaw Nyein has been serving as the second principal. The Government Industrial Institute (Kyauk Phyu) was upgraded to a Government Technical College in 2022 by the Ministry of Science and Technology, and in the 2022-2023 academic year, 4-year courses with Civil, EP, and Mech majors have been taught as B-Tech degree courses.
During the (8) years that it stood as the Government Industrial Science (Kyauk Phyu), winning medals in every department-level competition; Winning various awards in other competitions, It is also a school that has been recognized by the ministry in a short period of time because of its achievements such as being able to send scholarship scholars.
On the 50th anniversary of the establishment of ASEAN, the essay and painting contests (national level – vocational education) were won by the Institute of Industrial Crafts (Kyauk Phyu) in the painting and essay contests, respectively. In the World Youth Skills Day (2018), Skill & Innovation Competition of GTI & GTHS held at Insein GTI on July 15, 2018, he received the Popular Award from the Government Institute of Industrial Crafts (Kyauk Phyu) and on the 2019 World Youth Skills Day, he received awards from all three majors and foreign scholarships were also selected.
